5 Days…Whensday….
Posted by: | CommentsIts been a wonderful and interesting 5 days with my Master … He and i have been able to really connect and grow during this ThanksTaking holiday weekend … With all the hustle and bustle of our schedules and events.. it brought lots of opportunity for discovery , reflection and growth … i am so Thankful for every day .. and these last few were really meaningful.
Day One ~ Day job and Spanksgiving Eve party …
my day job is very stressful to me ,, and i have been working on facing the issues that i have in relation to my career … so the day at work was stressful but i didn’t let it get to me .. i was able to see the situation as transitory and not feel attached to the stress… i practiced patience and understanding but not without effort .. so a potentially “bummer” day turned out to be an opportunity to put my theories into practice… and it was a success !!! When i was in a meeting with the owner of the company .. i didn’t take her negativity as a personal attack and was able to view it impartially …i left the office feeling good !!!
The Spanksgiving Eve party was pretty ok.. i helped Master be the dungeon monitor, but there wasn’t much to monitor.. a not too many people were playing .. but i had the chance to look at my “uptightness” and see that alot of my issues come from my feelings of jealousy and resentment … i actually feel jealous of other peoples freedoms and ability to be comfortable in public sexual scenes … i find myself longing to feel free.. free of my judgments of myself.. free of my fear ,,, but honestly,,, i would have NO PROBLEM if Master ever wanted to play with me like that .. the couple times He DID play with me like that.. i really really enjOyed it … but i respect His choice to NOT play with me like that .. i understand His motivations and reserve. i , once again , was able to observe that 99% of my issues are steamed from my feelings of desire , self judgement , and self centerdness.. and that i wear a mask of “prudence” to cover up my longing … the adage “thou doth protest too much ” is fairly poignant to sum up this obscure school marm attitude. Master always says i’m the most perverted prude He knows … and its true .. i am. o the Spanksgiving night showed me a glance behind my mask … i think i see a bit of REAL skin coming out … maybe a few eyelashes !! Master has NO IDEA i’m writting about this.. so i look forward to his comments about this one …
This realization is is marvelous … i am happy to look at myself in REAL life .. look at what i have become .. and where i am going …
Master and i had a nice time though.. it was nice chatting with friends and hanging out …

a spiritual life…

Weather we recognize it or not, we are each essentially living a spiritual life.
The difference between an ordinary person & an awakened one is that ordinarily people put tremendous energy of body & mind into fighting against their own spirit & the spirit of others, or in some cases they harness the spirit to fight against body & mind… Whereas an awakened beings are not fighting themselves, they are living in complete harmony with the body, mind & spirit of themselves & others.
Because in the West we have a particular notion of what the “spirit” is, it is important to note that when I mention spirit, I am not referring to a separate “ghost” self contained solely within the body, rather, I am referring to an endless river of life, flowing through & made up of all existence.
For an awakened being, with body mind & spirit, they are holistically functional, holistically harmonious. They are not doing anything special… they have simply discovered the original state… the natural state… This state is no different from walking with the feet or blinking with the eyes. It is our natural truth, our original nature.. the order of harmony. This state does not require being or doing anything in particular, but it does require realization… in other words, waking up to ourselves… When this happens, harmony is actualized.
For the ordinary being, there is an immense amount of energy being harnessed & applied in this effort of fighting themselves & others. They are in fact very powerful beings continuously exercising this power. If only they can learn to express this same energy in harmony with mind, body & spirit, the search would be over…. they could could be truly happy, truly at peace, they could replenish the World.
All I can do is offer my heart.
The rest is up to you.

Every movement and moment is creation …we create with every breath .
Master and i were speaking of action and non action .. BEING … He commented that Being is like water .. and i responded that action is the waves .. so to me the POWER of water is the waves .. the “action” of being .. without movement and action the still water becomes stagnate .. no??
Be like water .. fluid enough to adapt in any situation .. but powerful enough to change the world .
So with the waves of the sea . which are created by the moons magnitism ..
and the Sun is the source of life .. together they create the life force .
We are creation .. brought forth by the Sun and muuuun ..
created by god .

This weekend is the celebration of the 60th year anniversary of the Zen Buddhist Temple Of Chicago, which is where I practice at. I am attending the “Founders Sesshin’ which is basically 3 days of zen meditation, then on Sunday is a special service with some talks including Taiun Sensei from Atlanta Soto Zen Center. He is a great guy & I enjoy his talks. W/we have visited the ASZC several times & it is just wonderful there. The last time I entered (July 4th 09) it just felt like home. If I was a “normal” person, I suppose I would be partying for the weekend seeing that its my birthday weekend… but “normal” & I are often 2 different things.
I’m looking forward to this Sesshin & as always, furthering my zen practice. Yes I am practicing in the Soto Zen tradition which emphasizes zazen as it’s central practice.. But I did not enter zen practice because I was interested in parroting some lineage dogma.. I entered zen for one purpose only, because I know in my heart, I am to help awaken all beings. This process can take countless forms & can be expressed in countless ways… in fact it IS. Although I do not put zazen on a pedestal as many in this tradition tend to, I do feel it is a wonderful & profound practice. It is definitely a practical way to support personal growth, as well as inner & outer exploration of life…. which of cores go hand & hand. For me, I’m not to sure of HOW helpful it is but I can see how helpful it could be for the average person & would suggest it for most people. But to have this attitude that zazen is the only method of awakening is a vary closed view. If this were true then how would one explain the 6th Patriarch Huineng? He never practiced formal meditation.. & yet he received the lamp of transmission as a fully awakened being. The Bodhisattva Vow stated “Dharma gates are boundless”.. thus my way of practice is ceaseless.. it does not start when i sit down for zazen & it does not end when the bell rings. True zen practice completely fills your body & mind.. or rather, you loose everything once & for all. This practice does not come & go.. it is like the sky behind the clouds. Many spend much time riding the clouds & calling this “zen practice” though they have not once become the sky. When the heart becomes the sky, you enter the life of a Buddha. I feel if one is ready for this leap, life will simply take us there with or without zazen. Of course if one is suffering & desires to take steps toward awakening, I would say zazen is probably the best tool for the job. Ultimately, I say.. Listen to your HEART.. & then act upon it or make the changes… if your heart is telling you to take up 
meditation, then do it…. If your hear is telling you to sell everything you own & travel… then do it…. & what if you cant hear your Heart?.. Well, then take up zen meditation.
The main point is… the true us is berried under all kinds of junk, nonsense, & delusion… We each have to unbury our true selves if we are to end our self created suffering. Only you will truely know how to accomplish this….. & it is also true that zazen is a powerhouse tool made for the job.

An Awesome Time …
Posted by: | CommentsMaster and i had a really great time at Skinny Puppy !! The band was terrific ! They played alot of their older material and that really got the crowd Xxxcited !
Master spent the show in the mosh pit .. which was hilarious to watch !! He is so cute and FUN !! He has a wild spirit and loves to express Himself .. i enjoyed watching Him..
i liked the show alot too .. the music is really dancy and they played several songs i know .. so i had fun dancing on the pit sideline .. the costumes Oghr wore were really great !! i love costumes.. i tried to snap some pics .. check em out …

i saw Skinny Puppy in 1986 .. coz i workd in a nite club when i was but a 16 year old batcave girl !! i thought they
were cute…. but not as cute as my Master !!!!

New Experiences .. opening the door….

i am exploring the idea of transitioning my career into a new and wonderful VOCATION…. not just a job but a wholistic and fulfilling vocation. i have a vision of being true to my nature and learning the skills to be a Vegan Baker !!!
Today i went and visited two schools here in Chicago.. one was not to my likeing but the other was FANTASTIC !!! Master and i are putting real thought and consideration in me attending The Cordon Bleu Institute !!! i will be persuing a degree in Patisserie and Baking … it is an exciting idea!!
i visited the school today and felt very positive about the campus and the program … i expressed the need for my studies to be expressly vegan and the responce was very positive…i feel i might be a pebble in the waters there.. creating a positive ripple.. who can say ?
This idea comes from a place in my heart that wishes to share and cultivate compassion … for the world. From the heart i know i am journeying on a road of greater awareness and sensitivity. my Master has held my hand and lead me here.. it is not without His guidance that i take each step.
and what a wonderful road W/we are on… He and i had a long discussion today about this .. i dont think W/we are done talking about it. but it was great to have Him to talk to and spring ideas off of… its funny how W/we go.. but all along… there is the l*ve that holds U/us together…..
So.. here i am looking at a new vocation… after 20 years … my eyes and heart are open … amazing…. coming from a girl whose idea of making dinner was calling for delivery !!!

Posted by: | CommentsNot exactly sure what “Desiderata” is but I happened upon this & though it was nice & worth sharing… Not denying the negativity but not succumbing to it… Though I will say, one must find a way to embrace all things & not reject them including what is seen as negativity, while in the same breath, not supporting, condoning or fueling such fields of negativity. The key word here is BALANCE. Ultimately universal balance is unchangeable… & yet greater still, there is no balance nor imbalance at all.
Hope this is helpful to people out there!
