PERFORMANCE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! – Looks like mara & I are going to be on the bill for for the event “One Last Burkhart Underground” tomorrow evening (Sat Aug 14th) to help raise $$ for Fred So come out & see our SURPRISE exhibition along with all the other fun acts! SCHEDULE AND INFO:

As some of you know, Burkhart Studios is picking up and moving on…but before it does, Burkhart is opening up his home to us one last time. Unlike the benefit in July this evening is planned to more closely resemble the many Sunday nights Fred hosted his Coffee house/open mic on North Halsted Street before the powers that be turned that sanctuary into a Golf-tech store. No outdoor stage this time. (The only p…eace we’ll be disturbing will be our own!) Just music, spoken word, and a fairly loose adherence to Fred’s credo “No Alcohol, Tobacco or Firearms.”

To help Burkhart fight his battle against cancer and prepare for his move we’ll be selling CD copies of Fred’s inspired reading from July 10th. In case you missed it, this was an early-admission event featuring Burkhart reading words by his favorite scribes (Whitman, Beckett, Cohen, etc.) as well as his own work, accompanied by outstanding local musicians Bobby Lewis and Doug Bistrow.

This final night on Noble street will feature special performances by some of his newest and oldest friends:

BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS LAST NIGHT AT BURKHART’S WE’RE DOING TWO INDOOR STAGES. FORTUNATELY, THERE’S EXTRA ROOM NOW, AS MUCH OF FREDS THINGS ARE IN STORAGE. TO ACCOMMODATE THIS MASSIVE BILL, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT MOST OF THESE SETS ARE GOING TO BE SHORT, SWEET GOODBYES TO THE UNDERGROUND.
